<aside> 👋 Hi there! I’m Kevin Xu. I studied computer science and cognitive science at the University of Michigan. (Go Blue!) I’m extremely interested in how technology might help address humanity-level challenges, fascinated with how culture and ideas spread, and practically optimistic about the future.

Update: 07/27/2026

I was mostly in Ann Arbor for the rest of the winter semester, taking the scenic route. Climbed on top of the Cube, played cards at Bill’s Beer Garden, attended many campus band concerts, went to Somewhere, Michigan for a Shift retreat, took grad pics for friends. After sitting through Commencement (and remembering arithmetic), I moved to Seattle - oh yeah, I decided to return to SpaceX! I’m back working on the dish doing embedded systems and network engineering stuff. I’ve been able to do some traveling in the meantime - roadtripped around Madeira and hostel-hopped in Lisbon, witnessed Michigan’s basketball natty while in China indulging in cheap eats, blasted the soundtrack of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty while campervanning around Iceland. These days, I’m still finding time to climb, jump into alpine lakes, and chase sunsets.

Want to chat? So do I. Would love to hear your thoughts about startups, climate, photography, applied rationality, or anything you’re interested in, really. Hit me up! 😁
